Day 2 Blogging 101 Title and Tagline

So it’s Day Two of Blogging 101. Take control of your Title and Tagline. I
guess when it comes to my Title, it is usually a haphazard thing. Gosh I have written a page, now what am I going to call it?

IMG_0982
I recently registered my business name, which reflects how I would like my business and writing to go = Camera Pen Travel. I would really enjoy just locking up the house, farming out the fish and the puppy and heading out on the highway for destinations unknown. That sounds a bit romantic doesn’t it? Destinations unknown!
I recently started traveling by myself. My travels aren’t too adventurous yet. Well I did have one almighty adventure. I also take small road trips up the Hume Highway to my sister’s house – its only a four hour trip, not too hard to do as the Hume Highway is a nice highway to travel on, there are toilet stops and service stations along the way.

An adventurous trip is one taken with perils along the way. Like no toilets, no running water, (perils did I say, more like luxuries) no food stops, petrol stations few and far between. Wow I digress!
Titles and taglines, concentrate Cassie.
I consider an adventure to be a trip to the bush or forest, camping, close to a river, no showers or baths, dip in the river for a wash, cooking over an open fire (or the barbecue you’ve taken along), gathering fire wood, stoking up the fire, camping in a tent, braving the elements.
Title – what’s in a name? Who said that? Shakespeare? A rose by any other name smells as sweet.
My Title should reflect what my blog is about. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t. I do try to match Title with content.
Taglines – what is a tagline. Is that like a category?
I’m reading Customizer on WordPress as I try to work on Assignment Two of Blogging 101. Multitasking, reading, writing and drinking red wine.
Custom Header Image, Widgets, it all sounds like a foreign language at the
moment. I am sure that as time goes on, it will all become easier for me to
understand and to apply to my posts. I hope so.
One of the suggestions for the Title and Tagline was to:

“Try listing adjectives that describe your personality, and play around with the words until you can tweak them into a name that’s catchy but uniquely “you.” Puns always work well. Start with certain common phrases, songs, and literary titles, and then mix the words up. Or use your own name in a clever way.”IMG_1099

I think that I have already done that. Adjectives which describe my personality – well not so much my personality as my passions – camera pen travel – reflects three of my passions. Photography, writing and travel. I’m not sure if this post reflects the theme of Blogging 101 – all I do know is that I enjoy writing and I hope that if you are reading my blog, that you also enjoy my blogs. I can be a little bit “all over the place” so sometimes my thoughts and writing reflect that.

  1. Read your blog. Don’t worry about the details. That will all fall into place later. Just write. It would help me to know where you live in the world (do not need an address). I need a starting point so your pictures and comments make sense.

    1. Dear Glenn Roy Browne – what a great name. So Scottish sounding, highway robber man ish. I do like your name.
I live in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Australia is a lovely country, with bush, tropical forests, deserts, drought, flood, bushfires, small towns and big cities. It is a big country with a lot of the inner country quite empty of civilisation. Did I mention that it is a beautiful country?
One day when I am rich from my writing (or if I ever save enough money) I would love to travel to Canada. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I hope that so far my writing has been enjoyable and worth your while to come back and read. There is plenty more to come as my poor little head is just full of things.

    2. Hi Glenn how are you. Hope that it is not too cold there right now. Our weather in Geelong Victoria Australia is just really crazy sometimes. We’re one of those places that has four seasons of weather in one day.
Yesterday it was 32 degrees celsius, today 18 degrees and then its going to get hotter tomorrow. We don’t often have a whole week of hot weather as it is interspersed with cold days, cool days, warm days, hot days, very hot days, then very cold days. Yesterday when our cool breeze came through we had rain and wind and a thunder storm. Very radical weather changes.
I like to write. I often have so many thoughts inside my head that it hurts and I need to get some of the thoughts out. I think I am actually sleeping better now, because my thoughts are being transferred to word press. I hope that I am not keeping others awake with my thoughts.

    1. Wandering Soul it took me ages to get that name write. Are you talking about my business name – Camera Pen Travel? I put all these words down on a page and I played around with them. I tried being imaginative and changing letters around to make this really complex name – like Pamera Ten Cravel – for example. I tried putting a few words together to make a really clever business name – like CramTravePen – but all the names I came up with sounded quite silly, so I finally put together the three things that are important to me, in this stage or phase of my life and wallah – Camera Pen Travel.
I like your Pen name – Wandering Soul. It really reflects who you are and I think to myself – ah that’s me too, a wandering soul.

    1. Hi Anand thank you for your words of encouragement. I really do like writing. Not just like, I love it. I enjoy letting the words flow from my very full mind on to the page. Well mostly I write using a keyboard now. I do have a lot of A4 notepads full of scribblings. I have even started to write a few stories and never completed anything yet. Maybe now that I am getting inspired and feeling a lot of positive vibes from people here on word press, then I may be able to complete some of my writing. Thank you Anand.

      1. You will definitely be able to complete them now, Cassie 🙂 I can feel the conviction in your words. We have a wonderful community. I wish you all the best in your endeavors 🙂

  3. Hi Cassie! I immediately went to your blog when I saw your comment on my most recent post. Oh gosh you are so adorable! You had me at multitasking (although it rarely works for me but I do it anyway) and red wine! I love to travel as well but unfortunately I think photography isn’t for me haha! I also did Blogging101 way back and really enjoyed it! If you like I also wrote a ‘Why I Am Here’ post on my blog. I went to your about page because I so want to know you more but I guess you haven’t updated it yet. I am looking forward to it though! Sorry for my long comment, I just thought your personality and the way you wrote were fun and all over the place just like me at times. Good luck and I hope we learn more as we continue blogging!

    1. Hi Meyan
Thank you so much for your comment. I haven’t updated about me yet because I don’t know how to do that yet. I am still learning so much about word press. I have started negotiating my way around and each time I do one of the blogging 101 classes I learn a bit more about it – the word press site.
I am sitting at my lap top in my office (my dining room table) tapping away at the keyboard, red wine close by, watching the news and just relaxing after a day out visiting family.
I will go and find your Why am I Here post and read it soon. cheers from Cassie
